RoboCop™ 3.0.6

Uphold the law, get some cash

If you had enough dinosaur shooting over the weekend but not enough shooting overall, here's another 'fixed' shooter from the same developers. The RoboCop licensed game is not exactly the same game as Dino Hunter, although they share important elements, such as upgrades and limited 'energy'.

In RoboCop, you will be going through a series of virtual missions that are designed to train Alex Murphy, the new corporate profit machine, in the ways of perfect aiming and keeping a straight face (although that is a given, considering RoboCop's quasi-zombie state). A mission consists of one or more consecutive shootout theaters between which you (RoboCop) run; after eliminating all the resistance that the spawn counter has managed to summon. By default, you will be taking cover, but can take aim or move to a different cover spot. Enemies will be forcing you to to either refrain from shooting (because you might be met with a bullet barrage) or change cover (because the current one is being shred to bits).

RoboCop

After finishing a mission, you will generally get cash, but sometimes also 'breakthrough' points. These points bring a level of uncertainty in the upgrade screens. Besides weapons, RoboCop can also get upgrades. In either case, while most are clear, some are misterious, and require an 'breakthrough point investment to even have a chance of yielding anything. The more you invest, the higher the chances are that your spent cash will not be in vain and leave you feeling cheated (similar to what most have felt after playing No Man's Sky).

RoboCop

The action is fairly varied. While RoboCop's moves are nothing more than two stances and a bit of cover-to-cover movement, you will get to activate certain abilities. 'Scan' for example lets you identify enemy weak spots or explosive props. There is also a quick fire ability that allows you to set up to 3 targets to be gunned down in rapid succession. However all of these have a fairly long cool time, and some need to be bought, such as the health kit or hover drone assistance.

Finally, RoboCop seems to be a fairly well done money grabber. Although you can play for free, there are many powerful weapons to which you can only get by investing some of your (or your parents') hard earned cash. What I really like though is that the action is almost as cheesy as in the original film (I haven't watched the reboot).
